Pod Plans for September 16- 20

Reading:

Story: "The Fox and the Kit" read this story nightly
Sounds: inflected ending -s and ing
High Frequency Words: they, have
Sentences- write sentences using correct word order

Spelling Words:

nap, naps, sit, sits, win, wins, fit, fits, hit, hits, they, have

Math:

We are continuing addition. This week we will be playing 5 in a Row and 3 towers. 

Social Science:

We will complete our AMSTI kit- Balance and Motion

Important Information:

Join the PTA cost $10.00
Thursday- Sept. 19 first grade gotcha party
Parent Report day is Monday, September 23- Your child's teacher will contact you about your appointment.  No School for Kids
Yellow Pod will perform at the Oct. 1 PTO meeting

Social Science: This week the students will begin our AMSTI lesson on Balance and Motion.

 

A.R.

Yellow Pod has started taking A.R. Tests this week.  Your child will be taking tests on their library book.  Make sure they read the book 3 times and ask them questions about the characters, plot, setting, and order of events in the story.  Also ask them questions about the pictures as well.  Fill out the A.R. log or send a note to let your child's teacher to let her know that your child is ready to take a test.

Reminders: 

Please join the PTA. The cost is $10.00. You can help your child's class win an ice cream party by joining. The next PTO meeting is Tuesday, Oct.1st at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Pizza will be served at 5:30 Yellow pod is performing at the October meeting.

Spelling words: (Spelling will not count as a grade the first quarter)

 Math: This week the students will be learning about number words 11-20.
               They need to able to read these words.  Please review number words zero - ten

Social Science: This week the students will begin our AMSTI lesson on Balance and Motion.
 
Library:  All Yellow Pod classes had library orientation last week.  Your child will be bringing home their library book daily.  These books need to be returned to school daily.  Your child needs to read the book 3 or more times.  You need to ask them questions about the characters, plot, setting, and illustrations.  Your child will be taking Accelerated Reader tests on the computer.  These tests ask comprehension questions about the story.  These tests are not counted as a reading grade.  These tests will help your child with comprehension and understanding of what they are reading. One of our reading goals this year is to improve your child's reading fluency. Your child reading daily will help to achieve this goal.

·        If you have not done so already, please return all signed forms, school supplies and any money due asap.
