Oct. 28- Nov. 1

This is Red ribbon Week.  Each day has a special theme.  Notes have been sent home and updates are on this blog.

Classroom News!

Reading:
Story- "The Big Circle"
Sounds- long o (hope) and contractions: n't, 'll, 'm
High Frequency Words- one, had
Grammar- capitalizing proper nouns: days of the week, months of the year, and holidays

Spelling words:
home, hope, rose, woke, those, joke, rode, stone, hose, bone, one, had

Math:
Your child will be learning about fact families (1+3=4, 3+1=4, 4-1=3, 4-3=1)
Please continue to practice addition and subtraction at home.  Your child should be able to add problems with missing addends.

Handwriting:
Will be graded this quarter.  Your child must form letters correctly, they must be written touching the bottom line, have a finger space between words.  If your child's handwriting does not meet this criteria please practice at home.

Social Science:
We will celebrate red ribbon week. 

 

Important Reminders!

Yellow pod classes have music and guidance this week

No check outs after 2:00 pm
Mon. Oct. 28th- Chick-fil-a spirit night from 5-8pm- turn in your yellow slip to the cashier.
Wed., Oct. 30th- is the costume parade (make sure your child's costume meets the criteria for school),
Wed. Oct 30th- special Halloween snack. Please send in $2.00 cash to cover the cost
Wed. Oct. 30th- half day of school.  Students will be released at 12:00pm
Our field trip to Lanark is Tuesday, Nov. 5th- cost is $7.00- please send in the permission slip and money, it is due Nov. 5th.
Book Fair- will be in the lunchroom Nov. 4th-8th
Nov. 5th- PTO Math Night! It is from 6-7 pm.

Cookie Dough Pick Up

Parents who ordered cookie dough will be able to pick it up on Oct. 30th from 12-7 in the lunch room.  Please remember that this is also our half day of school.

Oct. 21- picture retakes.  If you would like your child to retake their picture please send your child's teacher a note.  
  • Author David Sargent will be at the school on Oct 23
·        Reports cards will go home on Thursday, Oct. 24th.

·        Next shaved ice date is Thursday, Oct. 24th. Please send $1.50 cash if you would like your child to participate.
  • Oct. 25- Last day to turn in your AL/AU reading logs.

·        Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 28th- Nov.1st. See post below for dress up days info. Our pod will have class parties on Wed. Oct. 30th . This will also be a half-day for the students. They will be released at 12:00pm

Follow your Dreams! Don’t do drugs! Wear Pajamas
Wednesday, October 30- half day-

Costume Parade. Dress up in age appropriate costume.

Please do not dress students in costumes that display violence or may

be seen as scary. Do not send play swords, guns, etc. The purpose of

the day is for students to understand and enjoy make believe.

The students will parade through the halls of the other grades

beginning at 8:15 with Kindergarten! School Releases at 12:00 Today!
Thursday, October 31
Team Up Against Drugs: Wear your CES, SEHS or team shirts.

Drugs make you blue: Wear blue jeans

Friday, November 1

It’s a Jungle out there! Wear camouflage or animal prints

Spot me being Drug Free! Wear polka dots
