Reading:

·     Story of the week- “Where are my Animal Friends?”

·     Sounds: -dge, -er and -est
(Use er when comparing 2 things, use est when comparing 3 or more things)

·     High Frequency words – many, these

·     Adjectives (describing words)

 

Spelling words:

Math: This week the students will be learning about place value, greater than, less than and equal to. Please continue practicing addition and subtraction at home.

 

Social Science: This week we will continue our AMSTI kit-Animals Two by Two. We will be learning about fish (goldfish and guppies).

·     ½ day - Wednesday, Jan. 29th with school releasing at 12:00 pm due to teacher in-service.     
Yearbook sales begin Jan. 29th. Cost is $24.

Social Science: This week the students will learn about Winter Animals.  We would like to have a polar bear snack on Friday.  Each class needs a parent to send in individual vanilla ice cream cups (18 are needed for each class).  Please let your child's teacher know if you can send these in by Friday, January  17th.
 

**Important Reminders/ Dates**

Our next Gotcha Party will be Jan. 24- It is an animal show by Barn Hill Preserve.  Students must have 5 gotchas and a signed permission slip to attend.  There is an opportunity to take pictures with some of the animals, that money
should be sent on Jan. 24
Remember this is a gotcha party! 

·     Next PTO meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 14th at 6:00 pm in the lunchroom.

·     Yellow Pod Dibels test is Tuesday, Jan.14th. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest and eats a good breakfast so they will do their best on the test.

·     Report cards go home on Tuesday, Jan. 14th. Please check your child’s daily folder, sign both forms and return to school on Wednesday.

·     No school - Monday, January 20th

·     ½ day - Wednesday, Jan. 29th with school releasing at 12:00 pm due to teacher in-service.

Welcome Back

Happy new year to everyone.  We hope that you and your families had a great Christmas break.  We will have a delayed start on Wednesday, January 8.  Everyone should have received a phone call from Dr. Langham about bus pick up times.  If you did not receive a call you need to send a note with updated phone numbers to school.


The students will be taking the Unit 3 pre-test in reading and math this week. We will be covering the skills listed below but no weekly tests will be given.
