·        The yellow pod will be performing at the PTO meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1^st  at 6:00pm in the lunchroom. The students will be performing so please make plans to attend this meeting!

·        Friday, Oct. 4^th- Shaved Ice. Please send in $1.50 cash if you would like your child to participate

·        Cookie Dough money is due by Tuesday, Oct. 15th.

·        If you signed your child up for The Good News Club, it will begin this Thursday, Oct. 3^rd.

·        Please note- if you are not handicap, please do not park in the handicap parking places in front of the school. The police are issuing tickets. Thanks for your cooperation.

Parents do not park in the handicapped spots in front of the school.  The police will issue you a ticket if you do not have the proper permit.  This is also enforced during afternoon pick up.

A.R.

Yellow Pod has started taking A.R. Tests this week.  Your child will be taking tests on their library book.  Make sure they read the book 3 times and ask them questions about the characters, plot, setting, and order of events in the story.  Also ask them questions about the pictures as well.  Fill out the A.R. log or send a note to let your child's teacher to let her know that your child is ready to take a test.

 Math: This week the students will be learning about number words 11-20.

               They need to able to read these words.  Please review number words zero - ten

Social Science: This week the students will begin our AMSTI lesson on Balance and Motion.

 

Library:  All Yellow Pod classes had library orientation last week.  Your child will be bringing home their library book daily.  These books need to be returned to school daily.  Your child needs to read the book 3 or more times.  You need to ask them questions about the characters, plot, setting, and illustrations.  Your child will be taking Accelerated Reader tests on the computer.  These tests ask comprehension questions about the story.  These tests are not counted as a reading grade.  These tests will help your child with comprehension and understanding of what they are reading. One of our reading goals this year is to improve your child's reading fluency. Your child reading daily will help to achieve this goal.
