 Reading:  

• Story of the week- “Pig in a Wig”
• Sounds-short i (ex: sit)  and final –x (ex: fix)
• High Frequency words – you, was
• Realism and Fantasy

Spelling words: (Spelling will not count as a grade the first quarter)

 Math: This week the students will be learning about number words 11-20.

               They need to able to read these words.  Please review number words zero - ten

Social Science: This week the students will begin our AMSTI lesson on Balance and Motion.

 

Library:  All Yellow Pod classes had library orientation last week.  Your child will be bringing home their library book daily.  These books need to be returned to school daily.  Your child needs to read the book 3 or more times.  You need to ask them questions about the characters, plot, setting, and illustrations.  Your child will be taking Accelerated Reader tests on the computer.  These tests ask comprehension questions about the story.  These tests are not counted as a reading grade.  These tests will help your child with comprehension and understanding of what they are reading. One of our reading goals this year is to improve your child's reading fluency. Your child reading daily will help to achieve this goal.

 

                                 **Important Reminders/ Dates**

·        If you have not done so already, please return all signed forms, school supplies and any money due asap.

·        Please join the PTA. The cost is $10.00. You can help your child's class win an ice cream party by joining. The first PTO meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 3^rd at 6:00pm in the cafeteria.

·        School Picture Day- Tuesday, Sept. 10^th

·        Next shaved ice date is Wednesday, Sept.11^th. Please send in $1.50 cash if you would like your child to participate.

* Parent Report Day is September 23.  No school for students
